Small Business Saturday 2025
Small Business Saturday: Showing Up For Each Other
A lot of people in Wytheville and Wythe County are feeling the squeeze right now. Groceries cost more, gas costs more, and most of us are watching every dollar. Our small business owners are in the very same boat except they’re also trying to keep the lights on, keep employees paid, and keep doors open in a tough economy.
Main Street America’s new data makes that clear:
38% of small businesses reported declining revenue in the last three months.
45% saw their net profit drop.
Most are tiny operations with 72% reporting have fewer than 3 full-time employees.
And yet, 70% of these businesses still donate to local causes, even when times are tough.
The same people worrying about their own bottom line are the ones sponsoring youth sports, donating to local non-profits, helping fundraisers, giving items to raffles, and stepping up every time a neighbor is in need.
That’s what “shop small” really means. You’re not just buying something. You’re keeping money circulating right here at home, supporting: local employees, artisans and suppliers, service providers, charities, schools and booster clubs, and families
Your money stays here supporting your neighbors and keeping this community a vibrant place to live.
And Downtown Wytheville is full of people doing exactly that.
From CandK Unique Designs, Oracle Books & Records, Petals, The Eclectic Pearl, JoJo’s Attic, Turquoise Junkie, Country Formals, The Farmer’s Daughter, Dutch Boy Furniture, P.R. Sturgill Fine Jewelry, Laurel Creek Pottery, New River Sports, Batiks Etcetera & Sew What Fabrics, Urban Smith, Wytheville About Face, and nearly 13 incredible restaurants downtown, these are your neighbors working hard for this community. Find our more about all our local shops below.
They show up for Wytheville all year long. Small Business Saturday is our turn to show up for them.
Here’s what we’re asking:
Come downtown this Saturday with your family and friends to start the holiday season. Grab something to eat from a local restaurant, shop for some Christmas gifts, talk with a small business owner, and help spread the word about all your favorite local small businesses.
Remember that these businesses need us long after Small Business Saturday is over.
Wytheville is stronger when we support each other. Let’s keep our dollars local, keep our community vibrant, and make sure the people who invest in this town every day know that we’ve got their back.
